Canadian Music Competition Presents Catch a Rising Star

National finalists of the CMC (Canadian Music Competitions) ranging in age from nine to adult will perform classical music on piano, violin, cello, and voice. Cellist Rachel Mercer will play on a 400 year old Stra divarius cello on loan from the Canada Council. Also performing will be the Oakville Children's Choir-Chamber Choir, under the direction of Janet Stachow. The CMC is a national non-profit organization dedicated to discovering, supporting and promoting promising young Canadian classical music students. Some of the performers; Coco Ma, Emma Meinrenken, Nevin Kong, Rachel Mercer, Oakville Children's Choir-Chamber Choir, Conductor-Janet Stachow, Accompanist-Cheryl Duvall.

The Toronto Korean-Canadian Choir will be performing thei spring concert on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. at Mississauga's Living Arts Centre as part of their 31st season. The program features Mozart's Great Mass in c minor, K 427, before intermission and various Korean Arts Songs in the second half of the concert. The choir consists of about 60 singers, mostly, Korean-Canadian. All solists are active professional singers on the international stage. Conducted by Hoon Mo Kim. Solos by park Sook Hyung, Soprano; Shin Hye Chung, Mezzo Soprano; Jin Chul-Min, Tenor; Kim Yong Min, Bass.

The Ambiance Singers, directed by Danny McErlain a professional jazz pianist and music arranger, will perform well known melodies from the musical "Les Miserables" and "Hair". This 2010 performance features Jazz Flute Specialist and award-winning Canadian jazz flutist Bill McBirnie. The Ambiance Singers will perform many styles of music from show tunes to gospel, jazz standars to rock and country to swing in this performance. This is a benefit concert for SCAW - Sleeping Children Around the World, founded by Murray Dryden in 1970 providing bed kits to children of any race or religion typically located in underdeveloped and developing countries.
