Call for Proposals: 2018-2019 Exhibition Program

The Living Arts Centre Gallery is currently accepting exhibition proposals for the 2018 - 2019 season. The Gallery hosts contemporary art and craft exhibitions, with a focus on artists from Mississauga and the surrounding region. The exhibition program highlights the diverse artistic practices of emerging and mid-career artists working in a variety of 2D, 3D, interdisciplinary, and digital media.

The Curator accepts submissions from collectives, arts organizations or groups of three or more. Individual artists may apply to be considered for group exhibitions organized by the Curator. Exhibition proposals should address current issues and have contemporary relevance.

Exhibitions typically run for 5 to 7 weeks.

Exhibition proposals must include:
  1. Exhibition description (max. 500 words)
  2. Organization profile (if applicable) (max. 250 words)
  3. List of participating artists
  4. Artist CVs for each participant
  5. 10 digital images of proposed or representative works (jpeg only). Maximum 150KB per image.
  6. Time-based work should be submitted via a link.
  7. Image list indicating artist name, title, medium, and date.

Deadline:
The gallery accepts proposals on an ongoing basis, however the deadline for consideration for the 2018-19 season is January 2, 2018. Please note that the schedule for September 2018 to August 2019 will be finalized in the first quarter of 2018.

The Living Arts Centre provides exhibitors the following services for a nominal fee of $500 + HST:

  • Complete curatorial services, including installation and deinstallation.
  • Insurance of works while on site
  • Exhibition invitation design, printing and distribution. Printed and electronic copies provided to the exhibitor.
  • Press Release production and distribution and social media posts.
  • Gallery Attendants during gallery hours.
  • Scheduling of opening reception.

Gallery exhibitors are responsible for covering the costs of the opening reception. LIVE Cuisine, the Centre's on-site restaurant, is the exclusive caterer.
