The Living Arts Centre is accepting applications from students and recent graduates for DECENT EXPOSURE, an exhibition that singles out fresh artists to get excited about.
HOW IT WORKS:
New artists can apply with a portfolio of up to five pieces in any medium for consideration by a panel of LAC visual arts professionals. Selected artists will be exhibited from June 30 – August 1 9, 2012 with an opening reception on Thursday, July 12 from 7 – 9 pm. Finalists will be paid an honorarium for their participation and will be featured in a curatorial statement on the Living Arts Centre website, print & online marketing, and various social media outlets.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
- All students of post-secondary, technical, and craft institutions are eligible to apply. Recent graduates within 2 years of the completion of their diploma, bachelors, or masters degrees are also eligible for consideration.
- Works in any medium are welcome including traditional media, performance, sound, and video.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Images/videos of up to 5 submissions of current work (jpegs on CD at 72 dpi)
- Image list including title, medium, size, date, for each submission
* Artist’s name must be clearly labelled on the submission CD*
- $20.00 administrative fee (cheques made out to the Living Arts Centre, cash accepted)
- artist statement or proposal for installation (max. 100 words)
- Current artist CV
- SASE (self addressed and stamped envelope) – please ensure correct postage for return of CD (The Living Arts Centre assumes no responsibility for images sent without return postage)

Notification of Acceptance: Artists will be notified by phone or email on Friday, June 8, 2012 if they have been selected to be in the exhibition. Only those accepted will be notified.
Call for Submissions: 2012 – 2013 Exhibition Season
The Living Arts Centre Gallery hosts a broad range of contemporary art exhibitions with a focus on artists from Mississauga and the Peel Region. The exhibition program explores the diverse cultural and artistic practices of Canadians working in a variety of traditional and contemporary media.
The Living Arts Centre is currently accepting exhibition proposals for the 2012 – 2013 season. For its 15th anniversary, the Centre would like to invite artists from Mississauga and the Peel Region to submit proposals for consideration. The curator will accept submissions from collectives, arts organizations or groups of three or more. Individual artists may apply to be considered for group exhibitions organized by the curator addressing pertinent themes in contemporary practice. Artists at all stages of their professional careers are encouraged to apply. Experimental and interdisciplinary media are welcome.
Exhibition proposals must include:
1. Exhibition description or Artist Statement (max. 500 words)
2. Organization Profile - if applicable (max. 250 words)
3. List of participating artists – if applicable
4. Artist CV’s for each participant
5. 10 digital images of proposed/former works, PC compatible (jpeg or tiff. files only)
6. Detailed image list indicating artist name, title, medium, and date of completion
