The Living Arts Centre is a dynamic venue where children can explore the wonders of the visual and performing arts. Camp programs are designed to provide fun, encouraging, creative and safe experience for children ages 6 – 16. Programs are taught by artist-educators in professional studios.

Camp programs are offered full days, Monday to Friday, for one or two weeks from July 3 to August 24, 2012. See individual program descriptions for specific dates and prices. Please note that there will be no programs on August 6th, 2012.

This fun-filled art program for young artists introduces them to the amazing possibilities of painting, drawing, sculpting, and much more. New themes for2012: Carnival Time, with maskmaking, puppetry and more inspired by thebig top; Wild Things!, an art-filled adventure with all creatures great and small, Colour Me Green, campers will explore the colour and textures of the natural world around them. Art projects will be interspersed with stories,games and lots more fun to keep our young artists’ imaginations busy!

Children will learn handbuilding techniques and will also have a chance to try their hand on the wheel. NEW PROJECTS EVERY YEAR! Dynamite Dance Basics (one week) - NEW!

Get ready to move and groove in this new dance program! Campers will be lead through the basics of dance focusing on contemporary styles including hip hop and jazz. They will learn basic choreography and will also have an opportunity to develop their own choreographed dances, which they will present to family and friends at the end of the session. This is the perfect introduction to dance for campers who have an interest in dance, but no formal dance training is required. (Max. 18 participants per session)

Always wanted to get behind the camera? Join this exciting and extremely popular program from the Centre’s school of film! Budding directors, screenwriters, and cinematographers will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking, includingscript development, storyboards, lighting and sound while creating a short film. Returning participants will continue to develop and refine their skills while working on new projects. Film premieres for family and friends will be held in our film theatre on the last day of the program. Each filmmaker will receive a copy of the final project.

Leaders through the Arts (two weeks)

Want to be a leader and make a difference in the community? Through visual and performing arts based workshops participants will develop confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Participants will partake in specialized workshops such as improv, sculpture and mixed media, which are geared towards personal growth, selfdiscovery and reflection. These new skills will help participants through-out their placement as they assist younger campers under the guidance of art instructors and camp staff. (Max. 12 participants per session)

Daily Schedule
Summer Camp programs (July 3 – August 24, 2012) are one or two weeks in length, and run Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Supervised breaks are provided for all campers. Mid-morning, mid-afternoon and lunch breaks are held outdoors, weather permitting. Campers must provide their own lunch and snacks.
Drop Off & Pick-Up
Camp programs begin at 9:00 a.m. Please drop off your child at the Camp sign-in area on the main floor of the Centre at least 10 minutes prior to the program start time. Children MUST be picked up promptly after programs or evening extended care. Late pick up charges will apply. Photo ID must be presented by those authorized to pick up campers each day.
There will be a late pick-up fee of $20.00 after 4:00 p.m. for campers not registered in Extended Care.
Extended Care
Extended Care consists of supervised activities. Morning Extended Care is available free of charge for all Camps. Morning Extended Care is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Evening Extended Care is offered for all camps from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for a fee. Limited spaces available.

Lunch and Snacks
Refrigeration for lunches, snacks and drinks is not available. Please ensure that all lunches and snacks are Nut Free. Adult supervision is provided for all campers during the lunch hour and breaks.

If you wish to cancel your meal plan, requests must be received in writing at least two weeks prior to the first day of camp.
Special Needs
If your child has any special needs, details must be disclosed at registration. Please note that we cannot provide one-on-one supervision or specific medical support. The Living Arts Centre is working in partnership with Community Living Mississauga through their Children’s Summer Support Program (CSSP) to offer a limited number of spaces to children with disabilities. Please note that these spaces will be filled only with successful applicants to the CSSP. Confirmation of CSSP acceptance and support must be presented prior to registration at the Living Arts Centre.
Class Size & Instruction
Class sizes range from 16 to 20 campers, depending on age and program. Your child’s camp experience is prepared and delivered by a qualified team of Instructors, Assistants and Volunteers. Camp Instructors are artist-educators with teaching experience. Camp Assistants are university or college students, and teen volunteers are interviewed and selected from local high schools.
Withdrawals
If you wish to cancel your registration, requests must be received in writing at least two weeks prior to the first day of camp. An administration fee of $25 will be charged for each cancellation. After this period, any cancellation requests must be accompanied by a medical certificate in order to receive a refund. You will be refunded for unattended days, less a $25 administration fee.
The Living Arts Centre reserves the right to de-register a camper if he or she is deemed to be incompatible with the program. A refund will be issued for all unattended program days.
Cancellations
The Living Arts Centre reserves the right to cancel or combine individual courses if minimum registration is not achieved. A full refund will be issued in the event of a cancellation.
Confirmation Packages
Registration done in person or on the phone will be confirmed by mail in the form of a confirmation package containing important information regarding camp programs. Registrations completed on-line will receive an e-mail confirming their registration, as well as information regarding camp programs.
Parking
Paid underground parking at the Centre is in effect and can be purchased in increments of $.25 per 15 minutes. Payment can be made by coin or credit card. The Living Arts Centres’ free 15 minute zone is at our south entrance driveway located off of Princess Royal Drive. On-street paid parking is also available along Living Arts Drive. Please park within designated areas. The Living Arts Centre is not responsible for any tickets incurred due to parking infractions.
What to Wear
For all programs, comfortable clothing is best. For hands-on visual art programs, we recommend that children wear something to protect their clothing – art can be messy!
