Program Offerings Camp Facts

The Living Arts Centre is a dynamic venue where children can explore the wonders of the visual and performing arts. Camp programs are designed to provide fun, encouraging, creative and safe experience for children ages 6 – 16. Programs are taught by artist-educators in professional studios.

Session Dates and Prices:

Camp programs are offered full days, Monday to Friday, for one or two weeks from
June 30 to August 29, 2014. See individual program descriptions for specific dates and prices.

Please note that there will be no programs on July 1st and August 4th, 2014.


Full day (1 week): $222 (short weeks: $206)
Full day (2 weeks): $444 (short weeks: $428)

All About Art! (one week)

This fun-filled art program for young artists introduces them to the amazing possibilities of painting, drawing, sculpting, interspersed with stories, games and lots more fun to keep our young artists imaginations busy!. New themes for 2014: Art Bites, a week long all-you-can-make art buffet!; Treasure Hunt, join us on the search for amazing and precious art-ifacts!: Under The Sea: an art-filled adventure of the magical world under the sea.

Once Upon A Stage (one week) NEW!

Drama, music and the visual arts come together! Campers work together to bring stories to life as they explore basic acting skills through drama games and creativity through movement and crafts. Developing skills that will enhance their self-confidence, imagination, and concentration, campers take their first steps toward the stage and prepare a showcase for family and friends at the end of the week.

Ages 8 - 10

Clay Crazy (one week)

Campers will explore a variety of projects and techniques in the Centre’s Ceramics Studio. Children will learn hand building skills and will have a chance to try their hand on the wheel. NEW PROJECTS EVERY YEAR! Clay pieces will be kiln fired, and will be ready for pick up within two to three weeks of the end of the program.

Creative Couture (one week)

Do you have a passion for fashion? A creative flare? This program is the perfect way for campers to express themselves by designing their own fashion accessories, textile art and other unique projects in our professional Textile and Fiber Arts Studio.

ToonTime (one week)

Learn the secrets behind your favourite cartoon shows and comics! Campers will learn the fundamentals of character development, illustration and storyboarding while exploring traditional 2D and 3D animation techniques. Each animator will receive a DVD of the final videos.

Design It! (one week) NEW!

Explore how master designers create amazing 2D and 3D objects while getting the chance to invent your own. Campers will use a wide range of visual art techniques including drawing and illustration, printmaking, and model building to explore the fundamentals of everyday design.

Art Fun-damentals (one week)

This very popular program for aspiring artists explores a variety of techniques and materials while discovering the artists and movements that have shaped our artistic landscape. New projects every year allow returning participants to further refine their skills. Create self-portraits, paint landscapes, sculpt, and much more.

Camp Facts

Daily Schedule

Summer Camp (June 30 – August 29, 2014) is one week in length. Each program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Supervised morning, afternoon and lunch breaks are provided for all campers.

Drop Off & Pick-Up

Camp programs begin at 9:00 a.m. Please drop off your child at the Camp sign-in area on the main floor of the Centre at least 10 minutes prior to the program start time. Children MUST be picked up promptly after programs or evening extended care. Late pick up charges will apply. Photo ID must be presented by those authorized to pick up campers each day. There will be a late pick-up fee of $20.00 after 4:00 p.m. for campers not registered in Extended Care.

Evening Extended Care

Evening Extended Care consists of supervised activities. Morning Extended Care is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Morning Extended Care is available free of charge for all Camps. Evening Extended Care is offered for all camps from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for a fee. Limited spaces available. Single days cannot be purchased.

There will be a late pick-up fee of $20.00 after 5:30 p.m.

Lunch and Snacks

Refrigeration for lunches, snacks and drinks is not available. Please ensure that all lunches and snacks are Nut Free. Adult supervision is provided for all campers during the lunch hour and breaks.

Meal Plan

This 5 day set menu includes a sandwich, fruit, treat, juice and pizza on Friday!

Note: you will need to provide your child with a morning and afternoon snack.

We cannot accommodate allergies of any kind or any special dietary restrictions.

Monday: Ham and cheese w/ lettuce and tomato on kaiser roll, fresh veggies, kettle popcorn, juice
Tuesday: Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and veggies, apple, banana loaf, juice
Wednesday: Chicken burrito wrap, (chicken, lettuce, cheddar cheese, flour tortilla), fresh veggies, fruit salad cup, juice
Thursday: Roast beef and cheddar cheese on whole wheat bread, banana, granola bar, juice
Friday: Two slices of cheese pizza, fresh veggies, brownie, juice

If you wish to cancel your meal plan, requests must be received in writing at least two weeks prior to the first day of camp.

Special Needs

If your child has any special needs, details must be disclosed at registration. Please note that we cannot provide one-on-one supervision or specific medical support. The Living Arts Centre is working in partnership with Community Living Mississauga through their Children’s Summer Support Program (CSSP) to offer a limited number of spaces to children with disabilities. Please note that these spaces will be filled only with successful applicants to the CSSP. Confirmation of CSSP acceptance and support must be presented prior to registration at the Living Arts Centre.

Class Size & Instruction

Class sizes range from 16 to 20 campers, depending on age and program. Your child’s camp experience is prepared and delivered by a qualified team of Instructors, Assistants and Volunteers. Camp Instructors are artist-educators with teaching experience. Camp Assistants are university or college students, and teen volunteers are interviewed and selected from local high schools.


If you wish to cancel your registration, requests must be received in writing at least two weeks prior to the first day of camp. An administration fee of $25 will be charged for each cancellation. After this period, any cancellation requests must be accompanied by a medical certificate in order to receive a refund. You will be refunded for unattended days, less a $25 administration fee.

The Living Arts Centre reserves the right to de-register a camper if he or she is deemed to be incompatible with the program. A refund will be issued for all unattended program days.


The Living Arts Centre reserves the right to cancel or combine individual courses if minimum registration is not achieved. A full refund will be issued in the event of a cancellation.

Confirmation Packages

Registration done in person or on the phone will be confirmed by mail in the form of a confirmation package containing important information regarding camp programs. Registrations completed on-line will receive an e-mail confirming their registration, as well as information regarding camp programs.


Paid underground parking at the Centre is in effect and can be purchased in increments of $.25 per 15 minutes. Payment can be made by coin or credit card. The Living Arts Centres’ free 15 minute drop-off zone is at our south entrance driveway located off of Princess Royal Drive. On-street paid parking is also available along Living Arts Drive. Please park within designated areas. The Living Arts Centre is not responsible for any tickets incurred due to parking infractions.

What to Wear

For all programs, comfortable clothing is best. For hands-on visual art programs, we recommend that children wear something to protect their clothing – art can be messy!

Don’t forget to order your Living Arts Centre Camps Artist’s Apron!
Artist’s aprons are made from high quality navy denim fabric and have an adjustable neck strap and pocket for holding tools.
