Book a teacher professional development workshop with your colleagues after school in our professionally equipped studios. Choose from a variety of 2 hour workshops to compliment your curriculum or work with us to create a specific workshop to meet your classroom needs. Have an enjoyable afternoon with a unique arts experience!

Teachers will receive handouts including lesson plans as well as suggested grade adaptations.
Cost: $250 per workshop (25 teacher maximum)

Media Studies through Visual Arts
(2 hours)
Teachers will be exposed to various printmaking techniques that can be used in the classroom. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of Screen Printing and artists such as Andy Warhol in contemporary media studies. Teachers will have the opportunity to create their own prints. Teachers will also learn how the elements of art are used to visually communicate messages to their audience.

Hip Hop for Teachers
(2 hours)
Learn the history of the Hip Hop phenomenon and how you can incorporate the popular genre into your classroom. Teachers will have the opportunity to learn Hip Hop dance techniques that even the most inexperienced dancer will feel comfortable teaching their students.

Creative Carbon Footprint
(2 hours)
In this hands-on workshop, teachers will learn how to get their students to think critically about the world around them through visual art. Using the photographic artwork of contemporary artist, Chris Jordan, teachers will find creative ways to explore environmental sustainability with their students.

Media Studies through Reader’s Theatre
(2 hours)
Participants will gain a working knowledge of Drama and how their voices, facial expressions and hand gestures are used to interpret characters in scripts or stories. Collaborative script writing activities in the classroom setting as well as advice on programming and assessment within the performing arts will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on how the media affects our interpretation of contemporary dramatic works.
