Adult Volunteers

Front of House Volunteer

As a member of the Front of House Team, Volunteers greet, direct, and seat patrons, monitor theatre entrances, assist patrons with special needs, prepare and distribute programs and count ticket stubs. Front of House Volunteers provide the “red carpet” treatment to our theatre patrons, and are integral to our promise of superior customer service and excellence in programming.

Minimum commitment: Twelve (12) hours per month and twelve months of service.
Recruitment for this position occurs year round.

Information Officer

The Information Desk is an important hub of the Living Arts Centre and a focal point during events. Information Officers help direct guests, answer questions and provide visitors with a warm welcome and exceptional customer service.

Minimum Commitment: Twelve (12) hours per month and six months of service.
Recruitment for this position occurs as openings become available.

Gallery Attendant

While in our Gallery, volunteers attend to the space, interact with school groups, answer inquiries and provide information to patrons about the current exhibition.

Minimum Commitment: Three (3) hours per week and six months of service.
Recruitment for this position occurs as openings become available.

Outreach Ambassador

Outreach Ambassadors man the portable Marketing Booth during off-site events or performances at the Centre helping to promote the LAC and its programming. Outreach Ambassadors also assist with office administration.

Minimum commitment: Six (6) hours per month and twelve months of service.

Reception Attendant

Reception Attendants provide excellent customer service assisting patrons both on the telephone and in-person in our Gift Shop. Volunteers assist with gift shop upkeep, maintain a working knowledge of the artwork sold, operate a cash register, and assist with inventory control.

Minimum commitment: Three (3) hours per week and six months of service.

Youth Volunteers

Youth ages 15-18 can assist with our Camps, Weekend Courses, or Front of House. Complete your Community Service hours working with the public or children while having tonnes of fun!

Youth Meet & Greet Officer

Meet and Greet Officers are the warm, inviting personalities who welcome visitors and patrons upon entering the Living Arts Centre. Meet and Greet officers help direct guests and answer any questions regarding the Centre and events. A working knowledge of the facility is required. This position works closely with the Front of House staff and Ushers to provide excellent customer service.

Minimum commitment: Four (4) hours per month, from September to June.
Recruitment for this position occurs year round.

Community Course Assistant

As a member of the Studio Arts Volunteer Team, Community Course Assistants, help our Instructors with programs for children ages 2-12 years.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours each Saturday or Sunday for 8-10 weeks.
Winter Session: Saturdays & Sundays from January 13th – March 4th; application deadline October 29th, 2017.
Spring Session: Saturdays & Sundays from April 21st – June 16th; application deadline March 4th, 2018.
Fall Session: TBC (September – November 2018); application deadline June 30th, 2018.

Camps Assistant

As a member of our camps volunteer team, volunteers assist instructors with programs for children ages 5-14 years.

Time Commitment: 1 week (40 hours) for March and Winter Break Camps and 2 weeks for Summer Camp (80 Hours).
Winter Break: January 2nd – 5th, 2018; application deadline October 29th, 2017.
March Break: March 12th – 16th, 2018; application deadline January 21st, 2018.
Summer Camp: July 3rd – August 31st, 2018; application deadline May 6th, 2018.
