Community Art Courses & Events
With guidance from Peel Public Health and the Medical Officer of Health, and in an abundance of caution for both our residents and staff around the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Mississauga and Living Arts Centre is responding with the cancellation of our remaining classes in the winter session of community courses. The Centre will be closed to the public from March 14 to April 5, 2020.
Our Box Office will provide a prorated refund for the remainder of the course term or a full refund for cancelled workshops. If you paid by credit card this refund will be directly applied otherwise please contact our box office at 905-360-6000 for further assistance. Please note our extended box office hours on March 13th and 14th are 11:00 am -8:00 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you at the LAC soon.
According to Peel Public Health, the best way to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses such as COVID-19 is to:
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with your sleeve.
- Wash your hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Fun with Clay
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to create ceramic art using coil, pinch pot, slab and other hand sculpting techniques.
Discover and create with clay! This class teaches how to create a variety of fun, hand-sculpted objects, like decorative masks or coiled bowls, as well as how to throw on the potters’ wheel and finish their works by applying colourful glazes.
Digital Art Discovery
Using provided iPads, students will explore the world of digital art.
Drama for Kids
The perfect class for budding performers! A variety of drama games and exercises will stimulate the imagination, develop concentration and introduce the basics of storytelling, role-playing, self-expression and theatrical skills.
Drawing and Illustration
Focusing on drawing as a tool for developing ideas, students will explore a variety of themes and media while learning techniques such as shading, perspective and space.
Art is an adventure! Art Explorers aims to encourage young artists to discover a wide variety of art materials and techniques—from painting and drawing to sculpture and printmaking.
Fashion and Fabric Studio
Thinking about pursuing a post-secondary program in fashion, fibre arts or developing a new creative skill?
Fine Art Fundamentals
This course gives youth planning to apply for a Regional Arts Program or a post-secondary visual arts program valuable experience in developing themselves as an artist.
Hot Glass Sculpture Workshop
This introductory workshop is designed to illustrate the basic skills needed to create sculptures using molten glass.
