Courtney Downman

Wave Bowl (Carved Series)
Blown, Saw Carved and Sandblasted Glass
8" x 8" x 4"

Each piece in the series "Carved" begins as a blown glass form made by gathering and shaping the molten material. Once the bubble has cooled, the artist uses a diamond saw to delicately cut into the glass, carving the linear texture and jagged edge. To create a matte finish, the artist sandblasts the final carving.

Courtney Downman began working with glass in 2012. Her practice explores a range of glass techniques and processes, including blown glass, flameworking and glass fusing.
