Gordon Boyd

Inner Space (Magnetar and Capacitor)
Engraved Blown Glass
8” 12” x 5.5”

This series was created by layering glass colours and then carving away to reveal hidden layers. This work is evocative of the idea that what is underneath is often vastly different than what is visible on the surface. In this sense, the work reflects each of us. Who we are, how we feel are often hidden beneath layers and layers of narratives we have built upon ourselves. However, when those layers are peeled away, our true beauty shines through.

Gordon Boyd was drawn to the medium of glass and has actively practiced engraving and cold working as a means of expressive mark-making. Gordon’s work explores a range of themes, including beauty, suffering and internal struggles.
