We are pleased to welcome back our friends from LUNARFEST who will be here to help us celebrate the Lunar Chinese New Year – Year Of The Pig with thoughtful and interactive experiences.


Come explore and discover a range of engaging activities throughout the building from 11 am – 4 pm.


Take a stroll under 888 paper lanterns in our Tunnel of Blessings and capture the moment with a picture with your family, friends or loved ones to cherish.

The Universe of Piggy Banks 

A group of alien pigs are coming to Earth, and they need our resources! They want to collect all the money in our world, so they can continue onto their next great adventure! Through the activities we have planned, children can learn about world currencies and how money works. The first people to finish the event can also win a prize! 

The Big Money Bath

Come participate in our lucky money bath! All you need to do is throw some change and make a wish for the New Year! It’s not only a way to wish for some luck in the New Year, but you can also come admire the artistic design of our piggy bank, which can be seen only at LunarFest! 

Pig Heroes - Spreading Kindness (DIY Craft)

The most handsome world pig heroes are coming to the LAC and lighting up 2019 with love! Designed by Taiwanese lantern artist, Yen- chun Lu, the 12-nation pig heroes will make their grand debut to celebrate the Lunar New Year! Each pig hero will have a QR code on its back for you to scan, which will give you an act of kindness to perform. 

Cost: $3 per craft

Lunar Robots
A sea of Sky lanterns is a beautiful sight, but cleaning up after they are launched is also important. Come check out our Lunar Robots all the way from Taiwan as they are being trained to pick up these lanterns! Help us train these robots to make sure we keep our earth beautiful.

The Rogers Theatre will be featuring a four-part film documentary on visual artist, Giuseppe Castiglione titled:

Giuseppe Castiglione in China: Imperial Painter, Humble Servant.

Take in musical performance by the Ho Deng Music Ensemble who will feature music from the New Butterfly Lovers and Lunar New Year pieces.

Influences of Emperor Qianlong’s Italian Painter – Giuseppe Castiglione

Discover a unique art exhibition that is presented in partnership with the National Palace Museum in Taiwan. Learn more about the notable visual artist, Giuseppe Castiglione’s fusion style between Eastern and Western culture, and see how it all connects to multiculturalism in Canada and Taiwan.

The Super Mighty Makers Team will be offering TWO FREE CRAFT SESSIONS during the day.

This activity is recommended for children 5 years an up.  Children participating must be accompanied by an adult. 

Space is limited, first come basis.

Come cheer on local talented families as they perform for a panel of judges to try and capture first place in this friendly competition. Join in on the fun and watch these stars shine!

Guest judges this year include:  Suma Nair ( Sampradaya Dance Creations) and Demetrius Nath ( Mississauga Music)

The whole family can explore our hands-on craft zone with a variety of fun crafts to make and take home! Don’t miss our awesomely cool artist demonstrations happening during the day as well!  

Braving the elements outdoors will be our ever loyal 1st Meadowvale West Scout Group. Be sure to drop by to catch their fire-building demonstrations and get a yummy fire-roasted marshmallow!
