Jusqu’à Vimy (or “All the Way to Vimy” in English) is a new contemporary dance performance that pays tribute to the many soldiers who left for France one hundred years ago to die in one of Canada’s most defining historical moments: the battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917. The performance honours these soldiers while telling the stories of eight local Toronto soldiers whose lives were taken. Creating Jusqu’à Vimy  called for an intense research phase that saw the artistic team and its eight dancers invited to Vimy for the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Vimy Ridge, where they performed an excerpt.

Citadel + Compagnie is an award-winning professional dance organization led by artistic director Laurence Lemieux, that creates, produces and presents works on local, national and international scales from its home base The Citadel: Ross Centre for Dance in Regent Park, Toronto.
